Absolutely true... though in my case, being made to "perform" in the way that people would expect of me, or perhaps at the very least feeling like I need to through invisible pressure of the social situation, isn't something I want to do anymore. I've never used Illustrator but I do use Inkscape for a few things and I'm sure some Illustrator files can be imported.
