we had a 3 story tv antenna (doubled as frequent midnite stealth exit out my bedroom window) which we could move and point in any direction via a noisy AF dial/box on top of our tv, to pick up more stations.

1975-5th grade. Mom kept extra boots, mittens, hats, snowsuits in the closet for us so we could just come in and put on a dry one and spend the entire day outside even if it was a blizzard. We were not permitted to watch TV. raised my kids that way too-tho they also had Nintendo and smartphones.
