Required in NY now, we bought a house in 2017, the sellers were not required to notify us that the basement flooded. When we sold it in 2025, we were required to notify the buyers.

The detailed world building makes me a little tired as a reader. I don’t really want a 30 page explanation of the history of the whatever mines or the entire dynasty of the kingdom, just give me the story lol.

So many of tolkiens names are just straight up random Anglo saxon words. I guess he thought no one would notice lol.

Though I would be surprised if the college administration was happy for their conservative constituency (they’ve alienated their liberal alumni) to know what this professor and his family are up to.

That’s the Wheaton college I remember. A little weird, a little argumentative about theology, but just ready to do the right thing when the chips were down.

We gave up bringing homemade pies to my wife’s relatives. They would ignore them and go straight for the store pies. Lovely people otherwise.

Spent many Christmas eves eating roast beef out of Tupperware on the church choir room piano in between services. The music was always good but I missed being able to eat an actual hot meal.

I went in 45 degree water once. It felt pretty cold but the second my entire body was immersed my brain immediately thought, "oh no, i've got to get out of here."

So how many "reporters" for "mainstream" media are quoting, or even reading and being influenced by, these fake accounts? Maybe there's money to be made in making these fake accounts but the real motive is warping Americans' sense of reality and each other.

My wife just bought the 6th edition of the National Geographic World Atlas (c.1995) on Facebook Marketplace for $5. I spent hours with it as a kid and now we are using it to settle arguments about geography. :)

His ads said the right stuff to me but seemed very performative, just too much. Knowing he went to a f-ing boarding school kind of makes it make sense.
