Fort Bragg, North Carolina, has officially been renamed Fort Liberty and then had its name changed back to Fort Bragg, but this time honoring a different person with the same last name. The initial change to Fort Liberty occurred in 2023 as part of a broader effort to remove names honoring Confederate leaders from military installations. In February 2025, the decision was made to revert to the name Fort Bragg, but instead of honoring Confederate General Braxton Bragg, the name now honors Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, a World War II hero.
