I think it's a time when we all need to stand up and be counted. In service of authenticity (with humility), this thread suggests points of a potential manifesto for #theOpposition. I'm sure many won't agree with my stances, but I want to put this out there. 🧵

Yes @petebuttigieg.bsky.social. I love you. Want to vote for you. And… you have got to have a story about how you will RAISE WAGES for the American Middle. I say it has to be a pro-business industrial policy plus education reform to bring hi skills. What do you say?

Sorry, but I think this is a very blinkered neo-Marxist view. Of course we have male dominance in many fields-and our job is to evolve out of that. The idea that “the men” somehow monolithically invented religion to “control women” seems paranoid. Monoliths “the men” and “the women” do not exist.

This is a shockingly mistaken understanding of due process by Stephen Miller. It is likely this misunderstanding that is informing the President’s misunderstanding.

What NONE of these people have is a plan to raise wages for the working middle class. I say the answer is industrial policy plus education reform. Trump owns this space with tariffs - crap policy but Dems need a clear answer. Get with it #leadersoftheopposition

A vision of the future: in every country, there is a partnership among business, government and education to foster great companies offering hi-skill, high wage jobs in a socially responsible way, and to teach and train citizens to claim those jobs. #dumpTrump

A vision of the future: the President of the United States truly believes in, honours the constitution & the rule of law. Congress passes the laws & the administration administers! them. If the President wants to see a new law, he or she proposes it to Congress, seeks to convince them to pass it!

A vision of the future: in the US, we have a partnership of government, business and education to welcome business investment, leading to loads of hi-wage, hi-skill jobs with education and training to help our citizens fill those jobs. All in the context of free markets and international free trade.

@sanders.senate.gov I love your soul, your passion, your commitment. You’re a great American. And you’re right about working people. But what’s needed is not a min wage hike but a pro-business industrial policy to bring in hi-wage jobs and education reform to train for them. Ditch the socialism.
Workers are not asking to get rich. They just want to afford three meals a day.

In the richest country in the history of the world, no one should work for starvation wages.

It is time to raise the disgraceful $7.25/hr federal minimum wage to a living wage of AT LEAST $17/hr.

This is deranged. Jan. 6 defendants were repped by one of the best public defender offices in the U.S. They were more likely to be released pretrial & got comparatively light sentences. SCOTUS threw out a bunch of convictions, which almost never happens. They got gold-plated due process!

I agree with those who say Harvard and others in academia are awash in neo-Marxist “critical theory” blather and that this situation should be rebalanced. But bending knee to Trump’s fascism is not the way to change. Organically, from the inside of the community is. Bravo, Harvard.
Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

You could be a powerful voice @jbpritzker.bsky.social, but you need a positive message to #theworkingmiddle to win. Needs to be a pro-business industrial policy and education reform to create hi-wage jobs and skills to match.
