This painting was recreated from a dream of being invited to the studio of Richard Diebenkorn to watch him work. I did my best to recreate the painting he was working on as accurately as possible.

I take reference photos to spark inspiration. The angles, merged images, and color combinations often find their way into my artwork, but sometimes it's just the essence that shines through.

Music is an important part of my creative process. This painting was inspired by and created to the music of Scottish band, Frightened Rabbit, whose music is pure poetry and emotion.

A song came up in the playlist from @conilmusician that reminded me how brilliant his music is. If you’re a music fan I recommend you seek it out. This painting was Inspired by and created to his music, hope you like it.

I'm not sure who I was listening to when I created 'Sleep It Off', but Cactus World News was probably part of the soundtrack. Their album 'Urban Beaches' is a staple in my playlist and should be in yours too.

This painting is a bit of a sequel to a 2022 painting titled, “Here’s Your Paranoia”. Both have gotten very nice compliments and although the first painting is now in private collection, this one is currently available.

It’s been a highly productive time in the studio lately. Lots of good energy, lots of experimentation with techniques. It just feels like everything is going right. Happy Monday, all! Hope your week is exactly as you intend.

“Modern Debris” recently had it’s 10 year anniversary. It was created on a picnic table because that was the only space large enough for me to work on it. It stayed on our wall over our fireplace until 2022, when it finally had its first exhibition.

This is one of about 5 or 6 works in progress that have been taking their own sweet time to emerge. Even though sessions are sporadic I feel positive. They’re taking a slow approach and I’m along for the ride.
