I was planning to do an alcohol marker piece, but now that I've got the sketch printed out...I kind of wanna do mixed media gauche/watercolor. There's just a lot of big areas to color, and markers aren't great for that.

I've nearly finished the rough line art of a non-book illustration I want to (attempt to) color with alcohol markers. I'm so close! I just have to figure out how to make this braid look, you know, like hair.

When arting in your sketchbook, it's important to tell yourself that IT'S OKAY TO FAIL. "Ever tried. Ever failed. Never mind. Try again. Fail better." The whole point of a sketchbook (for me, anyway) is to experiment and get better. Failing is part of that process!

Getting back into the flow of things, I took a gander at my brain splooge page for the second Hired by Aliens book (henceforth HBA 2) and the ideas and random scenes I've jotted down for this couple make me squeal with glee. This is going to be a fun one!

Oh no! My lazy manhwa reading vacation is nearly over. Soon I'll have to go back to work and do things like plot new novels! Write words! Do book art!

3 hr 20 minutes later, I've finished swatching and organizing my new 320 set of Ohuhu markers.
Yes, the timing amuses me. No, I'm not even making it up. It wouldn't have taken so long, but I was half-way through when I had to reorganize because things weren't going to fit right. 😅
