Not too long ago, I had the most surreal experience teaching students about how to avoid forced diversity in games for my WIG initiative.

Man, if you told little Nikki that people would ask for her advice and line up to talk to her, even when she's far from an established writer, she would cry.
That's me! Standing up in front of a class, using a Leonardo Dicaprio meme to engage students (ps. it works!) and speaking about avoiding forced diversity. #WIG #womeningames To sum it up, I spoke about how diversity will come naturally if you focus on story and character. Don't add characters who are BIPOC just to "check off the diversity box." Diversity is important, but the best way to do it well is to view your characters as people, not as a diversity server.
