Had a busy day today and even more to do tomorrow, so I'm curled up with some hot cocoa and tearing through both today and tomorrow's readings in one go! 🐋

Ch 54 is my favorite chapter so far and likely will remain such. Sorry to all other chapters, but this one talks about my dearly beloved Great Lakes. I think Ishmael (and maybe Melville too) would have loved The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. 🐋

Ok this, ch 40/41, is where the book would lose me if I was trying to read on my own. Not even that one or the other chapter is bad on its own necessarly but to have the play bit and then be like "and now a very lengthy rambling about this whale and ahab" was a bit hard on the tonal whiplash. 🐋📖

The Cetology chapter wasnt bad, it struck me as similar to the part of How to Train Your Dragon where it goes over the different types of dragons. Esp the bit with the razor back whale, very much like the night fury. I wonder if Cetology inspired that? Dragons, Leviathans, here there be monsters! 🐋📖

I feel like Moby Dick and Shakespeare are of a kind where they have this reputation of being classic literature so they're assumed to be flowery and serious, and they do have those moments, but a lot more of it is very pulpy and just outright funny. Not like The Scarlet Letter or something. 🐋📖

Having chowder for lunch and skimming back through ch 15 to confirm that yes, Ishmael claims the inn's cow wears cod's heads on its feet and I didn't just have a weird dream making that detail up. 🐋📖

Can't sleep, so here I am at 3 in the morning reading the next batch of chapters and developing a massive craving for chowder... 🐋📖

One my friends told me about the whole marriage thing but it was somehow even more blatent than I thought. And before they even get on the ship! I am truly baffled by how many of the few things I have seen quoted before are happening before we even set foot on a ship! 🐋📖
