Just want to grow my little garden & ferment some foraged wines, sew some comfy clothes & make my cozy ... zines. 🥴 // From Central PA to Seattle by way of 1990s internet. // Kampai! 🍶
It really made me want to reread it for the context! I *adore* Tenar.

I thought it mught be about Dalzul in "Dancing to Ganam", so i pulled that collection off the shelf. When that was fruitless, i was like, "Wait. I should just google it "

I do agree that it would be worthwhile to add the citations. If the bot is just working off a list from Goodreads, i wish the botmaker would put some thought into how to scrape the citation info and add it.

Anyway, in the meantime, looks like simply googling it will pull it up in Goodreads.

It's from "Tombs of Atuan." A search from random posts by that account suggests they're coming from Goodreads quotes.

I'm from Central Pennsylvania and am more PA Dutch than i am anything else, and i've never had a shoofly pie in my life — despite my grandmother being well-known for making the best in town — because i'm not big on molasses.

But! If anyone wants to try making one, i will happily share her recipe!

Also, good reminder of a few things i really should watch.

It is true, we have been baited and hooked.

You could mostly tell by the formatting! Very list!

John and i tend to have diverging pop culture opinions, so i was surprised we agreed on one point —

WHERE is "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"??

Well. That sure was. A list.

[pounds on desk] YES!! I need a documentary about the seamstresses of NASA like J. Jonah Jameson needs pictures of Spider-Man.
Have fallen down the rabbit hole of how space suits got made and HOLY FUCK are there a lot of important women who've been largely left out of NASA's history there.

That is definitely on my short list for cat names, depending on the personality of any new cats we get.

I am so glad to see that i'm not the only one who knows the Postal Service does this!

Here is an (incredibly long) article that may interest other readers of Glenn's replies:

The U.S. Postal Service will mail you baby chickens in a cardboard box. Yes, live chickens.
Mail-order hatcheries have thrived with the support of the post office. As a result, we get to have backyard chicken coops, farmers' market eggs, and preserved genetic biodiversity. Plus, mail-order c...

You at least gotta tell us what the leftovers are.

But anyway! It really was a great experience! Fascinating to see how it all works on the inside. I mean, super tedious and ate up over 2 weeks' time away from work. But i honestly came away feeling kind of like a superhero for having been involved in the civic process.

The jury was unanimous on 2 points:
1) Not-guilty
2) BOTH parties A & B were terrible people. We joked about asking the judge if we could put that in the official record. :P

They had a goblet from the set as an exhibit. The new-ish prosecutor, beset with nerves, accidentally knocked it off the table and it rolled away. The case was shaky to begin with, but that's entirely when the whole thing was lost. +

I was on a jury once, 20 years ago. The prosecution had crafted their case around the allegation that party A had assaulted party B with a wine goblet that had broken on contact and lacerated party B. +

I start with a homemade ginger bug (this provides the bubbles). If you can get a sourdough starter going, a ginger bug is equivalent in the time it takes and the daily fiddling. Store the resulting ginger ale in plastic soda bottles, not glass (learn from our tragedies). SO GOOD
