The way I look at the expense is how much I would spend on the monthly HOA fees as opposed to what I would spend out of pocket for maintenance. But it is nice to have all that stuff taken care of in a townhome/condo complex.

If you can find reliable people to help with the yard and repairs to your house that really helps you to stay where you are. I've been thinking about the same things.

And that's a relatively cheap HOA fee. But they can always assess an additional fee for major projects. You just never know

Up until about 8 years ago my annual visits were very boring. I even joked with my doctor. Then I started falling apart and now I dread going because they'll find something new every time.
