Another vote for Valletta, the island is smaller than you might expect (size of Isle of Wight, but with cacti, impressive cathedral, walled town, etc.) and very easy to get around.

Daft that the college doesn't have one, Exeter Uni has a main library and a couple of smaller ones

You might be able to get borrowing rights as a local - libguides.exeter.ac.uk/visitors/bor...

If you've got a university library within doable travelling distance, she might be able to register as an external borrower or user. It should be possible to check the online catalogue first to see if they've got anything useful in stock
