Coates understands something Klein and his ilk absolutely do not, that finding the line to victory is not the job of a writer or public intellectual. That's for the party to do - the writer, as with the rest of us - should be pushing them to do what we believe is right, not kissing their asses

Since fault currents can be so high, this means anyone in the station could be at risk if the ground grid isn't sufficient during a fault - so like anything else, these have fault current ratings. And when the grid is rapidly changing, this is super easy to overlook - it's also pretty expensive 11/x

Step potential is this cool and incredibly lethal phenomenon you get when a high voltage conductor is laying on an imperfect conductor like the earth - the voltage doesn't go straight to ground, it produces a field that gradually tapers off as you get further away from the conductor 8/x

and adding new lines in reduces system impedance - it makes the grid "smaller", electrically, and that too can increase fault currents. Over a certain level and your breakers don't work, but that's just the easiest thing to analyze. You also have to worry about your conductors, buswork, etc 4/x
