you'll be fine. I experienced the same "oh fuck I've never had to be single as an adult before" panicked hopeless period and also had several abortive attempts to date prior to starting my current happy LTR

I guess you might as well throw howard the duck in there, which probably explains the personal appeal -- I too am "trapped in a world I never made"!

maybe it's just because they haven't been done to death yet, but I've discovered that I have an unexpected soft spot for stories where the multiverse is a site of existential dread (jaspers' warp, serpent crown on president rockwell arc of avengers, even the multiverse of madness)
