This maybe came across wrong but by no means is the intent to encourage laying off people, the idea is rather to have interesting work for humans and repetitive work for AI

Could we have handled it better - absolutely but we did try to make the best out of the situation

I noticed some quotes from our FAQ and from customer reviews. While they're accurate quotes, I think some important context got lost in the excerpts: stating that our FAQ post was unapologetic when it literally starts with "We hear you. And you’re right" and providing an extended refund policy...

but I think we all agree that AI has a role in that mission. We want JetBrains IDEs to be an open platform for software developers utilizing AI workflows. I don't look at Anthropic or OpenAI as competitors, which is also why we integrated Claude Agent into AI Assistant.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. There are a couple of things though, that I heavily disagree with. I am working on sharing more details on our AI strategy. But ultimately our goal has always been developer productivity. AI is by no means the only tool to support that cause

Nevertheless I shared the feedback that it clearly came across wrong

Sorry if this came across wrong, but our idea is to have developers do the interesting work, the exciting or creative bits and pieces. You could say the same about leaving boring refactorings to our products instead of bothering developers with that kind of repetitive work.

You can completely disable it, but our goal has always been to provide a great out of the box experience. Our users appreciate that they don't need to dig through a marketplace to find all the necessary plugins. But I will talk to the team again and see if we can better support this scenario

By no means am I in a position to make product decisions, I can influence them by sharing user feedback with the relevant teams, which I did in this case. but I can still disagree with the feedback as I am a user of the product myself and every product decision comes with consequences.

You can alternatively also open a YouTrack ticket which is an equally open space. But as I said before 250 characters don't allow for a very nuanced conversation + that the temperature of the messages above don't really allow for such a conversation
