This resonates a lot for me! I think for me the origin story of my defiance & blunted fear is complicated & not all related to trauma (but maybe it is, it hurts to think about it). There are things to love about it (I am super brave & ready to go to bat for people) but boy the grief is there too.

I wish Massachusetts had a START team (it is a little surprising that they don't) but New Hampshire actually does. They would be really great folks to connect with on this because START's whole deal is developing better capacity around supporting folks with IDD who are prone to crisis.

Our electoral patterns are honestly so interesting--we have often elected red presidents and blue governors in the same election year. The gerrymandering has well and truly fucked our congressional representation, though.

I think there are actually a lot of powerful Republicans in Buncombe County, but regardless, the people of NC do not "deserve" climate disasters because of how our elections have shaken out. Our districts are so gerrymandered in favor of Republicans that our democracy is largely dysfunctional!
