Went to a Liberal rally tonight. Heard prime minister Carney speak. He is very human and funny in his stump speech. The last liberal rally I attended was for Pierre Elliot Trudeau. Kinda dates me. I’ve mostly voted NDP in the interim but not this time. #elbowsup.

Good news message for today - science is still being done by the European Space Agency! Their space telescope Euclid detected a rare Einstein ring. I encourage all to read the article and support The Guardian. I don’t know how science will get done in the U.S. going forward.

I was active in the Canadian Peace movement in the 1980s. I literally couldn’t sleep for fear of my kids dying in a nuclear holocaust. Got involved. It all seems for nothing. Who will do what we did in the 1980s? Shout out to Project Ploughshares - church based but welcomed an atheist like me.

Enjoying this book - Can’t help but feel we are at some inflection point like the fall of the Soviet Union - we just can’t see it. Is the American democratic experiment (and a lot of the world) now at the point where little pebbles are falling down the mountain into this avalanche coming?

My grandson, born and raised in Saskatchewan, is spending his first winter in Ontario at Uni. His friends don’t believe him about the weather out there. I sent him this pic this morning to show them. It is minus 27 C in his home town - but it’s a dry cold lol.
