please start with RISC-V assembly and only later use C. it's such a beautiful and easy assembly language compared to the mess of x86; you'll be able to understand exactly what your C or whatever is doing.
i was early on the RISC-V hardware bandwagon. i have a machine running linux w/ GUI on RISC-V.
