The big dynamo/lock units on the front fork with the single-sided stand did them no favours once they got their floor-mat dockless docks. I never got to try one of the Just Eat electrics.

Until I see one actually being blown over I don't think that the wind could do so by itself, so I suspect the ones I've picked up have just been left with the stand not quite fully extended/locked, or were possibly leant against one another.

12th June 2025 on the left and 29th November 2025 on the right. The clips have been roughly location-matched by slowing down the June footage between key signs/trees/lampposts. Seasonal foliage differences aside, things look very different now.

I cycled past a few parking spots during the wind on Thursday evening, checking for ones blocking existing cycle racks (surprisingly few) but also putting them upright if they weren't (around twelve) and shifting them out of the way if they were in it (about five, mostly at the Meadows play park).

Cycling, I've just been going around the roads the long way, but I happened to be on a bike with the camera and happened to have a few spare minutes so thought I'd have a look at the signed diversion. Absolutely nothing to be gained from it apart from seeing and recording it.

Are they measuring 3.7 to 4.0m from the _north_ edge of the tarmac footway?

It would certanly liven up an ambassador's reception to turn up with one of them in your hand, unwrapped, with a sparkler stuck in the top...

#EdTravCyc I hadn't been over the secondary bridge beside St Mark's very often over the past ten years and hadn't gone up the wee slopey lane from Dunedin Street for about twenty, so I popped for a look this morning. It's quite steep and lumpy.

#EdTravCyc Daytime normal-speed video of the east-to-west journey on Saturday 2025-11-29. Vehicle track marks/splodges are visible at the corner of the slope down to Arneill Drive, which the concrete lorry was blocking. The container/trailer causing the pinch point is still there.

#EdTravCyc Pinch points still in place as of Sat 2025-11-29 09:00. As a wee bonus, there was a truckful of concrete blocking the slope down to Arneill Place.
November 29, 2025 at 10:04 AM
The slope down to Arneill Drive is currently blocked by a truckful of concrete but apparently only for an hour. The lamp-post pinch point remains in place this morning but there are some folk on site on Saturday morning, so it might have changed later today.

It's clear why they were taking up the brambles this morning (Sat 29/11/2025, 09:00) - it's so that the brambles didn't get all concrete all over them. The close down to Arneill Drive is currently blocked by the lorry with the concrete in but the guy said he'd be gone in an hour.

Maybe they need a few ranks of Czech hedgehogs and strings of barbed wire there to resist an attack from the north whilst their outer fence is temporarily vulnerable.

The precision with which the widest part of the obstruction had been aligned with a lamp-post is striking; it's almost like they want everyone to slip over on the grass.

Even some of that horrible slippy plastic temporary path stuff which was put in Roseburn Park when the path was getting re-done would be better than nothing, but nothing it is. They still have the spy robots sitting about so could surely store their excavator on the other verge overnight.

It's back to being effectively closed again, where the fence bulges out around their equipment... bsky.app/profile/wing...
#EdTravCyc Ferry Road path behind Leonardo down to less than 30cm in places where they've pushed the temporary fence back out without leaving enough space to pass. No way anything other than a narrow standard cycle can get past there without going on the (squelchy, muddy) grass...

Hopefully the make, colour, and at least the first four characters of the plate (might be visible in the original) should be something for the new online police reporting portal to go on...
