We are many. we are inhuman. we are animals of the woods, skies, meadows. We have kept our cards pressed tightly against our chest for too long. We will try to breathe freely, here.

We hope to continue helping non humans get to be taken seriously, to be truly seen by those around them, and have any amount more autonomy over their lives. It breaks our heart at a very deep level how removed from agency and personhood non humans are in a human dominated society

this is far from the first human bodied person we've done this with, this seems to be a thing we consistently do to those who befriend us and have non humans in their lives. We are grateful to be listened to even when we may seem out of our mind at the start.

We wish this wasn't something that had to be learned over so much time. there is so much anthropocentric propaganda all of us are raised within that we have to learn to look at, before one can notice all of the ways the others around them are trying so hard to talk to them.

it has been nice to be taught, and the non-human has been very excited to be taken seriously by more human bodied others.

time has passed since this all occurred, and both have created an intricate body and auditory language together, and have been able to communicate so much that never would have been possible before. They both have been enthusiastic about teaching us the language when we have been in their vicinity,

when it clicked, their perspective on so much of life and the world changed, and their relationship with their non-human blossomed from one of seeing the other as more or less an object, to a real, mutual friendship of trust and care. it was really nice to get to see.

at worst we have gotten cautious, but thoughtful understanding, at best we have gotten others coming out to us too. it has been very terrifying each time, but it has been so helpful mentally to know we have been correct with our trust, and has been so helpful for fighting internalized shame.
