This is a MUST read for anyone in @Waterloo Region. We need to support our neighbours in the urban and rural areas.

This is one more reason that the Wilmot Land Grab makes no sense for our Region.

"The Region of Waterloo relies on aquifers for 80% of its water."
Depending on what maps you look at, the Waterloo Moraine abuts or overlaps the land of the #WilmotLandGrab. Is this where we want to build an industrial mega-site?

Should Waterloo Region make decisions to buy land for an industrial mega-site when it's paused development? What company will want to build in a region that can't keep track of the resources and would face public outcry?

Why an industrial mega-site for if @WilmotTownship can't attract industry for employment lands zoned that way for 20 years?

And now, a water shortage.

The Region of Waterloo has only secured most of >500 acres of the 770 acres in Wilmot. It needs to decide in Feb whether to keep going.

Water issues & corporations moving back to the U.S. make continuing a bad idea.

The only land the Region of Waterloo has purchased officially is 1 155-acre farm and a couple of residential properties for a total of 161 acres. The rest of the land is only secured - it's not a final sale.

This is not a done deal.

We're all for halting it and demand the #wilmotlandgrab stop. It's time for some proper planning.

(For context, read www.therecord.com/news/waterlo...)
Let us know what you think this will cause:
A) Higher taxes (again)
