I'd honestly assume she still doesn't care, it's just cold and heartless political calculation from her to change her stance at this point. If she wasn't worried about her political future, she'd still be acting indifferent. Politicians like her always focus first and foremost on their own survival.

For us Finns, we have several hockey players that we consider national heroes, legends even, who had fairly unremarkable NHL careers, and are thus almost completely unknown to North American hockey fans. But, many of them are considerably more beloved here than the others with more NHL success.

Yeah they really did Ellie's character dirty in season 2. Which was weird cause they did a fine job with her in the first season, but somehow in the next season, where she's supposed to be 5 years older, all of a sudden she's way more immature and bratty. Just bad writing and choices.
