SIWC: Day 51

- Another key scene down.
- I think I managed to both embrace and then subvert an expectation.
- Super simple, but I cannot wait to see this acted out. So fun. Ending my day inspired.

Self-Inflicted Writing Streak: Day 50

- Wow! Big number today. 😊
- Working on building a clear villain story arc.
- Wrote a new scene to support that this afternoon.
- Bold decision… I’m taking this streak to 100.
- That *should* finish this script draft, and maybe even start something new! Yay!

SIWC: Day 49

- Invented two new characters.
- Clarified the jobs of everyone in this giant ensemble show
- Changed the order of some scenes
- Rewrote some stuff
- The world of this show gets more interesting every day. 😊
January 16, 2026 at 8:45 AM
SIWC: Day 48

- Didn’t want to write today. Did it anyway.
- Wrote another key scene.
- Locked in a big swing. It was clearly the best option.
- Goodnight world.
January 15, 2026 at 8:26 AM
SIWC: Day 47

- Went through my existing script doc. - Edited some scenes.
- Laid out the cue cards again. Trying to think about the show as a whole.
- Made a list of the scenes I need to finish the story and officially have a 1st draft.
- It’s getting close…
January 14, 2026 at 9:20 AM
SIWC: Day 46

- Cut or clarified characters. Ideally I want at least 3 appearances for everyone, unless it’s a reeeeally fun one off.
- Started working on another high emotion high energy group scene for the final act. But needs more attachment to whole group. Might have to write this last.
January 13, 2026 at 8:43 AM
SIWC: Day 45

- Back on the main project today.
- New scene done ☑️
- Working in a new character plotline. Really excited about the number of perspectives in this playyyy!
- Have another scene in mind for this character too!
January 12, 2026 at 7:49 AM
SIWC: Day 44

- My brain was somewhere else today…
- So I wrote dialogue for a completely different project I’ve been daydreaming about.
- This writing challenge is definitely helping me get some ideas out of my head and onto the (computer) page!
January 11, 2026 at 8:49 AM
SIWC: Day 43

- Writings done early today!
- Another scene for the back half of the play. Building up some new character arcs!
January 9, 2026 at 9:21 PM
SIWC: Day 42

- Finished the writing earlier, almost forgot to post…
- Wrote a very relatable situation that sets up the final push of the show
- Need more moments in the 2nd half, so this is a very useable scene!
January 9, 2026 at 8:09 AM
SIWC: Day 41

- Wrote another lil speech that should work well for the first act
- This is going to be a frenetic show
- I think I might be able to finish a draft by day 50… 🫣
January 8, 2026 at 7:59 AM
SIWC: Day 40

- In an effort to sort through what I’m working with… I did the cue card thing.
- Named each scene to a card, laid them out, and played with the order. It was helpful to see what’s missing, where the momentum is, and how to maximize contrast
- rewrote and intercut two monologues too!
January 7, 2026 at 5:41 AM
SIWC: Day 39

- Wrote a little
- Read about structure a lot
- Wrote a little bit more.
- Created a kind of looping text that shows contrast between characters. But also highlights how weirdly similar they are. Made it like madlibs.
- I honestly cannot believe how long this streak has gone.
January 6, 2026 at 8:46 AM
SIWC: Day 38

- Worked on two impactful scenes that tie in together
- One at the midpoint.
- One at the emotional climax. This scene is in progress.
- It remains fun kind of finding the threads through the chaos of this expansive world
- Next up, gotta write a fight scene 🥊
January 5, 2026 at 7:30 AM
SIWC: Day 37

- Did some tedious work today.
- A bunch of my writing has been kind of dialogue between groups of people without a clear distinction of character, so I spent a couple hours naming a bunch of people, and further defining characters in scenes.
January 4, 2026 at 7:35 AM
SIWC: Day 36
- Finished yesterday’s scene!
- A fun entry point to the story.
- Bit of a grind to write today, but still finding stuff. Can’t wait to tie it all together.
January 3, 2026 at 9:08 AM
SIWC: Day 35

- Was busy today, but wrote about half of a very specific standalone scene which I think really embodies my goal for the project.
- Very niche. Excited to finish it!
January 2, 2026 at 7:28 AM
SIWC: Day 34

- Writing is rewriting…
- Spent a few hours filling in the blanks this afternoon
- Cool milestone: Currently sitting at 42 pages (in my weird formatting), which exceeds the length of any play I’ve ever wrote! And I don’t think I’m anywhere close to being done
- Happy NYE!
January 1, 2026 at 4:44 AM
SIWC: Day 33

- Wrote two story-based motivational speeches (that don’t suck!) for the characters who needed them.
- Was nice to play in a specific style and rhetoric.
- I’ve also been reading through the mega draft wondering where to fill in the blanks.
December 31, 2025 at 8:45 AM
SIWC : Day 32

- Added some more scenes to the rough assembly. Punched up a couple.
- finally made a character list. There are currently 31!!! 😳
- I don’t even know if I’m halfway done this script
- I usually write small cast material.
- What is happening
- I honestly don’t know
- but I like it?
December 30, 2025 at 8:07 AM
SIWC: Day 31

- Started writing a pretty crucial scene (that was one of my earliest ideas for the project and I think will eventually work!), but I need the specifics of what comes immediately before to make the characters’ dialogue pop... Guess I know what I’m working on tomorrow!
December 29, 2025 at 6:53 AM
SIWC: Day 30

- Didn’t like my initial writing today
- So tried writing a plot point three different ways. With different characters. In different locations.
- I still don’t know which one works best. Not sure any will stick. Hope it seems obvious tomorrow… 🫠
- But something is better than nothing!
December 28, 2025 at 6:57 AM
SIWC: Day 29

- Fine tuned a scene
- Wrote a new scene featuring some Reddit hot takes as dialogue. The truth (in this case) is meaner than fiction.
- Streaking through Christmas! 🎄
December 27, 2025 at 1:40 AM
SIWC: Day 28

- Short scene (but pivotal scene) done!
- Back on track for plot
- Although I feel like I’ve really built up a character and now I need to find him an earlier moment to shine.
December 26, 2025 at 5:35 AM
SIWC: Day 27

- Writing done at record speed!
- Embraced a kind of stylistic surreal thing I do that I think will be super useful for the play I’m working on.
- I don’t know what it looks like on stage, but I know exactly how it should sound!
- Merry Christmas (Eve) to me!
