Back in the late 70s, my parents would take me to a bar called Whitey's in Richfield, OH. I would sit at the bar drinking a Roy Rogers and ask dad or mom for a quarter to play this song on the jukebox. I still go right to the memory everytime I hear this song.

In later years, WNCX 98.5 FM adopted the practice, airing the track during their "Saturday Night House Party" at midnight. As of recent reports, WNCX continues this tradition, playing "Maggot Brain" every Saturday night at 11:50 PM.

Cleveland's WMMS 100.7 FM began the tradition of playing Funkadelic's "Maggot Brain" every Saturday at midnight in 1976, initiated by DJ Bill "B.L.F. Bash" Freeman. This ritual continued throughout his tenure at the station.
