In a game where player capacity to inflict violence is carefully quantified and expanded, anything logically susceptible to that violence should not be arbitrarily saved by a hidden invincibility toggle. Creation of such invincibility systems also encourages their overuse.

Morrowind handled it perfectly by allowing consistent primacy of player ability and player choice. It’s an extension of “see that mountain? You can climb it.” I would rather have a signpost direct me back to an earlier save state than find the game breaking its own rules about player capacity.

Hell yes. Have not read much 40K stuff but I started here and the Necron trial bit cracked me up to a degree that is very hard for *any* book to achieve.

Just ran the numbers on 50-year out of curiosity and it feels fully dystopian already. At year 30, borrowers would only have about 25% of the principal paid. On a $320k mortgage, total payments around $1,055,000!

I think some people believe there is a hidden reserve of capacity within a large subset of the destitute and disabled that would, in the absence of a safety net, serve to provide them at least basic sustenance via menial labor. Obviously, that assumption rests upon an interwoven layer of delusions.
