i just hope we are all able to take a look inward, myself included, and do better. we all have shortcomings and all engage in and do shitty things sometimes, but i hope we do better, as queers, protecting each other, speaking up and addressing things before they grow into something more harmful

but like described in this book, i opted to not engage in a smear campaign. i tried to repair the relationship (in hindsight what a regrettable choice). this isn’t relevant to anything anymore as i live in a different state than everyone in that community now, though most are still dear to me

i think about how in early 2025 when i experienced SA, i brought it to my friends who also knew the other person. they said that they had seen problematic behavior from this person. this persons inability to respect physical boundaries, and use sexuality in less than consensual ways.

this can’t be talking about the queer spaces i inhabit, can it? i mean sure, toxic relationships occur everywhere, and often things are weird and messy. but then the essay starts talking about how we see this degrading sense of safety around us by our refusal to address things before they erupt
