Snapped Ankles. The kind of gig that’s such a joyous shared experience you find yourself hugging random strangers at the end. Amazing. #hardtimesfuriousdancing

Now up: Froid Dub, a French electro duo who are doing a good job of taking me back 30-odd years to seeing the Orb and the like. I have beaucoup de joie right now

It’s 8pm on a cold wet November Thursday, I’m tired and didn’t think I was up for a gig tonight but I already had a ticket for Decius at the Scala so here I am… and DJ Rosie Ama is very quickly getting me in exactly the right mood. This is flipping fantastic… it’s going to be a good night after all!

Quiet morning so using that as an excuse to dip into my copy of Unch which arrived over the weekend. I mostly do crosswords online these days but it’s nice to be reminded of the pleasure of solving the old-fashioned way. Lovely looking mag, @unchcrosswords.com - well done to all involved!

Do you use Crossword Compiler? I find the tagging function useful & I use it liberally - some clues may have 5-6 tags, maybe more… The word stats give a helpful visualisation of your use of different wordplay elements. As you can see from this, charades are very much my bread and butter…

Reluctant to do #nomowmay because our garden will only end up overrun with nettles and brambles, but having not mowed for a week, we now have cuckoo plant and forget-me-nots appearing, so I’m torn…

Fika’s up! Swedish hallongrotta (raspberry cave) biscuits. Recipe from Magnus Nilsson’s Nordic Baking Book. Think I’ll make them slightly smaller next time and increase the ratio of jam to biscuit. Taste good though! As they should, with the obscene amount of butter that’s in them… #fika

Expected guests yesterday afternoon so made biscuits - Swedish kolakakor from Magnus Nilsson’s excellent Nordic Baking Book. Crisp shortbreads with a caramel flavour and a slightly chewy texture. Delicious. Guests didn’t show so, um… well, I wasn’t going to throw them in the bin, was I!
