With a justice system in crisis, many people in prison are left without the support they need to move away from offending. Our work helps inform them about what RJ is, and supports them to access their local service. Help us continue this work: https://donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05WS000005wNNyYAM

Each year, Why me? publish a range of new resources online for free to help inform the sector on our latest research and spread the word about Restorative Justice. If you have benefited from these resources, please donate to help us create more: https://donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05WS000005wNNyYAM

We have been campaigning for a legal right to access Restorative Justice. We received a positive statement from the Government and are now pursuing an amendment in the House of Lords. To help us continue campaigns like this, please support us: https://donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05WS000005wNNyYAM

We all want there to be less crime in our local areas. But many people who have committed crimes become trapped in a cycle of criminal activity.

Restorative Justice can help to break this cycle and reduce reoffending, making our communities safer.

Wendy survived abuse by her Father when she was 14 years old. Decades later, she met him in a restorative meeting. Drawing on this experience, Wendy shared her thought on the theme of this year's #RJWeek, Restorative Justice as a human right.

Last night, the Why me? team attended a powerful performance of 'Punch' the play followed by the post-show panel featuring our Ambassador Nick, Michael Palin and Calm Mediation's Julie Clark. Nick said "Before Restorative Justice I was a victim, but after, I felt like a survivor".

Restorative Justice can change the lives of the people who go through it. It gives them a voice that many have never experienced before & allows them to take back control.

This #RJWeek we are celebrating the voices of people who have experienced Restorative Justice: https://why-me.org/ambassadors/

We asked our Ambassador Will, what he thought about Restorative Justice being a human right. Will was attacked, kidnapped and tortured in a case of mistaken identity but later met his attacker in a Restorative Justice meeting.

The theme of this year's #RJWeek is Restorative Justice as a human right. We asked our Ambassadors what they thought about it and we will be sharing their responses every day this week. This was the view of Sheldon, who was attacked by a young person, in an attempt to steal his phone.

Retail crimes can have long-lasting effects for retailers, staff and shop-owners.

By giving retailers the chance to explain the impact on their livelihood, and those who've committed retail crimes the chance to understand and make amends, it can enable everyone to move on.

Did you know?

Restorative Justice requires informed consent from both the victim of crime and the person who harmed them.

By ensuring that it is voluntary, all parties are brought into the process and are supported to participate fully.

In today’s fast-paced and ever-evolving work environment, organisations are increasingly recognising the value of restorative practice as a tool for fostering collaboration: https://why-me.org/2025/restorative-practice-in-the-workplace-building-collaboration-and-resilience-at-catch22/

Have you been affected by crime? You may want to ask questions, explain the impact of the incident on your life, or ensure the person doesn't offend again.

Restorative Justice is flexible to your needs and preferences. It can take many forms, such as face to face, online, or through letters.
