The daughter sees this, runs out, and jumps in front of her father just as the gun fires...
... and she's completely unharmed. The 'magic cloak' saved her and her father from death.

Then the moment where the two details collide. Without going into great detail about why any of this was happening, the owner of the gun in the first scene approaches the father in the second scene, holding him at gunpoint.

Another detail they bring up is that there's a father and his daughter that have a little something called a 'magic cloak', which protects its wearer from harm. They make it a point where the father gives the cloak to the daughter, to make her feel safe.

It's a moment that actually has a long and decently paced setup too, as the whole thing starts out with the buying of ammunition at a gun store. The store clerk asks if they are aware of what kind of ammunition it is, the buyer just wants to buy it and leave, and the transaction takes place.
