Or if you feel uncomfortable trying out the label, just start referring to/thinking of yourself as an animal/species. Ask other people to do it too. See how it feels, and that'll give you a bit of understanding on if this is/isn't a useful label for yourself. There's no harm in testing things out.

If you identify as a nonhuman animal on some level, you're a therian. Usually in these circles being upset that you aren't something is a sign that you may already internally see yourself as that thing in some important way.

Try out the label and see how it feels to decide if it's right for you.

Big adult alterhuman community on Tumblr because a lot of us joined in the 2010's and just never left, tbh. But that can sometimes make us hard to find, because most of us don't use the tags all that much since they're filled with kind of spammy coining posts/mood boards/anon confession blogs/etc.

Most of the older alterhumans I know prefer offline meetups, Discord, Telegram, forums, and Dreamwidth; look there for 'em for better luck. Also a lot of us in the mid 20's-mid 30's range are still on Tumblr, for whatever reason, but I don't really recommend the site personally.

There's a list of (some) previous alterhuman surveys on my triad's "So You Want Yo Run A Community Survey" document that you can sift through for data on the frequency of term usage. Just know that it lacks the newer & bigger surveys. Link: invisibleotherkin.neocities.org/files/SoYouW...

Yeah! Folcintera is a term for someone who identifies involuntarily as a creature that's from or deeply tied to mythology/folklore/legend, and whose identity is effected by the mythological interpretations and the different ways they exist (and can change).

Some of the events are wholly online; you don't need to be able to travel or to be a spiritual therian to join them. OtherCon is the biggest digital convention I know of for alterhumans, and a lot of smaller events/projects get advertised there.

I still have my CenterOfTheCircle necklace that I wear (and Chi and Orion each have one too lol). This Amazon theta delta necklace from a faceless brand using AI-art to generate their product images, on the other hand, is... Something else.

Like man this just feels. Offensive.

And tbf this is mostly something I feel on socmed, which makes me wonder if it's mainly a platform-influenced difference, especially taking into account the limits of microblogging. I don't feel that way on the forums or at the conventions.
