My girls bought a specific cupcake mix to make with their friend because they were sure she would love it and when we brought it over their friend had bought the same mix specifically to make with my girls. May we all be so seen and loved 🥰

I forgot to order J’s burger without ketchup. She hasn’t eaten it in many years but can confirm she still hates it. We wiped off as much as we could and she ate what was left without whining but she has made many, many comments about how horrifying the sweetness is.

Jules missed grad photo day because she had an interview at the high school for their visual arts program. But it’s for the best because she just told me today, two days later, that she needs a white collared shirt for grad photos. We should hopefully have the freshly ordered shirt by retake day.

Jules is bummed she doesn’t get to keep her school hockey jersey at the end of the season. Really need another jersey to add to the overflowing bin of old jerseys we have at home.

Jules played 4 tournament games this weekend, had 2 practices this week, has 3 school tournament games during the day Friday, then hockey 5 more times over the weekend. Just full speed all hockey all the time, I guess.

Trying to figure out the easiest/best thing to buy so a group of kids can make valentines to give to one specific kid— so I don’t want a single box set so she gets like 15 of the same thing. Maybe I just get Jules to hand make something for them to finish off…

I knew setting up an area of the basement for Jules to shoot pucks at plywood would be loud but holy smokes.

The bad news is a flexible plastic hose from our water filter to our sink seems to have a crack and leaked under the kitchen cupboard all night. The good news is we were home and that cupboard is full of salad bowls and food containers so the mess is mostly bowls full of filtered water.

Over the weekend one of the girls’ hockey teammates missed one of their tournament games because she and her family were stuck in the hotel elevator 😩 they’re fine! But they were stuck for about an hour.

Abby asked for help understanding some math homework and I was able to help her in under 5 minutes. She said “oooooooooooh!!” and then didn’t get a single question wrong afterwards. I am a champion math tutor!

Today at school Abby’s friend tripped and fell at recess and she had a crochet hook in her pocket (omg) so she ended up leaving school in an ambulance 😩 (she was apparently upset but as ok as you can imagine in that situation so hopefully a few stitches and she’s good to go)

The pads have been waxed with something called “slider sauce.”
A thing I learned this morning is that there’s special wax for the inside of goalie pads to help them slide back and forth easily. Love hearing about all the new things I get to spend my money on.

She played really well and was MVP so I guess we need to get her to play tired more often.

We still have Abby’s full set of skater equipment even though she’s 100% goalie now (in case she changes her mind) and we have pulled it out to lend bits to friends who were in a bind several times— lost stick, broken helmet, car stolen with equipment in the trunk the night before an 8am game 😩

Type of kid Abby is and always has been: she’s had a sudden leap in hockey development and when I told her that multiple parents have commented on how well she moves lately she shrugged and said “dad told me I had to try harder.” Oh, ok. You were just waiting to be told to try…?

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it here before but my absolute favourite kid on J’s hockey team is a girl who just started this year. She’s in her first year of high school and couldn’t even skate and just thought “I’m going to play hockey now.” And she goes out every week with a smile on her face.

Local restaurant that closed down over the summer just reopened under new ownership and keeps posting about how it’s been closed “over a year.” But I went there in June? I’m 100% sure, even double checked my group texts because I felt like I was losing my mind.
