We‘re not all the same. If you’ve met one trans person, you’ve met one trans person. Also, acknowledge that when it comes to trans healthcare, there’s a strong likelihood the person sitting in front of you genuinely does know more about it than you because it is so much more important to them.

Oh good for all of your cousins for managing the acceptance thing, even if your mother wasn’t doing as successfully. It’s so reassuring to meet people in person and feel accepted.
Sympathy for the funeral and the exhaustion though.

Please will you use alt text on pictures?

Please consider using alt text so this is accessible for those who rely on that?
You can make sure you don’t forget by putting a reminder on through:

I’d noticed that, too, so I have to agree with her. Sadly, pro-trans ones aren’t allowed to, though.

Awww, so nice! Well done :)

Why are orange ones always the first to decide people are fine? There’s a definite orangy cat mentality, and they don’t have to be all that orange to have it.

Yes, that’s what makes biology far more interesting than people like to claim.

Thanks. That’s probably one of the least of my health problems but aside from health, life has been kind to me, & I’d rather have rubbish health and be surrounded by lovely people than great health and not have the love.

Well… possibly depends if the person in their 70s has osteomalacia and can push their bones into different positions because they’ve decalcified again somewhat? (Sorry: grim humour from someone with the condition here!)

Ah, I put the accent on the next word - “the same KIND of non-disclosure” ie a similar disclosure, but about gayness. In the first sentence, they reference gay people not disclosing they’re gay to a different sex partner, so I thought that it was still referring to that.
Different understandings.

I genuinely don’t disagree with this, I just had a different understanding of what the original post meant. I didn’t want to sound argumentative, and was trying not to, but I know I often do accidentally (autistic communication issues).
I’m sorry if I was wrong in my understanding.

The comment didn’t say “this law has never targeted non-trans people”. It said “trans people are the only people who have to disclose a protected characteristic” (or words to that effect). The case you referenced didn’t contradict that. She wasn’t prosecuted for not disclosing she was lesbian.
August 24, 2025 at 12:04 AM
But the original comment was about non-disclosure, not about the law? One can think a law is wrong & still see a difference between it being used when someone has lied about who they really are, & when they have misled about who others once wrongly thought they were.
I may be expressing this badly.

(Views the views of one person in WKTC, not the views of everyone, btw. Penn.)
August 23, 2025 at 7:41 PM
I don’t know how to put this so I don’t sound discriminatory, but I feel there’s a difference between not disclosing your medical history (that you’re trans) and claiming to be a sex you aren’t. I know cis folk see them as the same, but I think it’s important to point out that there’s a difference.

Allll the sympathy!

If the country needed to raise money after he’s stolen it all, it might be a good way of funding it: if you’re on disability, or were caught up in an ICE raid, free; otherwise, $2 for those earning under $50k; $5 for those earning over it. I’m sure they’d feel it was a worthwhile investment.
