I think Trump reversed tariffs, or is forced to reverse them, and if prices fall then he takes credit for reducing costs and many people believe him m.

I don’t think they were ever going to get anything. It galvanized the left but I just can’t see how this ended any other way - except with more pain for federal employees and recipients of services. It sucks. Republicans will continue to shit on people, D’s can claim to have reopened gov’t. 🤷♂️

Well it’s hard to see why R’s would ever want to reopen the government. The shutdown serves their ideological interest and they’ve always stabbed their own people in the back so what deal Is there to be had here? People will continue to suffer - their echo chamber will continue exonerating them…

That’s a good point. Ultimately the battle of narratives is always an unpredictable. This administration ignores congressional authority and is willing to break every law on the books when they want something, so clearly they are choosing not to address this shutdown - I think people get that.

I think they get more credit for reopening the government and can then hang the empty promise of a health care bill on their heads forever.

Maybe not - being seen as the ones who ended the shutdown would be an upshot. Holiday travel is coming soon. God knows Trump will continue to give people countless fodder for criticism every day, it’s probably best that the people get back to work.
