Unlikely as it may seem, the United Kingdom's @metoffice.gov.uk has issued yet another weather warning for 🚨heavy rain🚨 across #Devon and #Cornwall.

The latest in a long line of recent warnings starts at 6 AM tomorrow morning and continues overnight into Thursday.

Moving inland to our local rivers, the multi-day #CSO activations at Shebbear and Halwill continue.

Our #WestDevonCSO database reveals that South West Water's web site is being "economical with the truth" about the duration of the continuing #sewage "spills".

Crossing the River Tamar into Cornwall, there are also ongoing multi-week active combined sewer overflows at Cawsand which started on January 23rd, Pentewan from January 10th and Perranuthnoe near Marazion from February 9th.

On the south coast of Cornwall the Menagwins sewage treatment works has been overflowing into the St. Austell River and thence the "bathing beach" at Pentewan since January 10th

In Central Devon the Dunsford sewage treatment works storm overflow started spilling into the River Teign on November 12th 2025, and the Moretonhampstead STW settled storm overflow joined in on January 8th

In South West Devon the Ivybridge sewage treatment works settled storm tank 2 overflow has been polluting the River Erme and thence Coastguards beach continuously since January 13th.

According to South West Water's #WaterFitLive map the Old Mill Road storm overflow in Torquay was active for 4.5 hours this morning.

However, the #WestDevonCSO database shows that the CSO has been operating almost continuously since January 26th.

This morning there is a modest reduction in the number of active combined sewer overflows across Devon and Cornwall:

Further north in Torridge, the Water UK map shows the Shebbear sewage treatment works storm overflow started overflowing this morning.

Which hides the fact that the CSO has been overflowing into the River Torridge intermittently for several days.

Moving inland, Water UK's map shows that the Pyworthy sewage treatment works has been overflowing into Derrill Water and thence the River Tamar since January 20th.

Princetown sewage treatment works has been spilling into the Blackbrook River and thence the River Dart since February 4th.

Further east along the south coast of Devon the Torcross pumping station storm overflow has been pumping sewage into Start Bay since January 20th.

On the south coast of Devon, several overflows in Plymouth have been "spilling" sewage into the River Plym and thence affecting the "bathing beach" at Plymouth Hoe since January 21st.

The infamous "poo pipe" at Woolacombe in North Devon has been on the go since January 26th. The nearby CSO at Croyde started at lunchtime today.
