My city in Canada did a blanket rezoning so that high density housing can be built anywhere in the city more easily. The NIMBYs have spent years organizing against it and in our most recent municipal election many candidates were elected who promised to repeal the rezoning.

And we are trying. Just look at how many MLAs are facing recall petitions right now. Last I checked it was 14 UCP MLAs.

I'm not saying this is right by any means but Quebec uses the NWC constantly to strip people of their rights and Ottawa still bends over backwards for them and never takes a stand. Turns out the Feds are just more concerned with playing politics than they are about rights.

If the NDP were in a better spot leader wise and money wise I think we would be heading towards a Christmas election but having an election right now would be massively disastrous for them.

John Candy passed away a few months before I was born and it always makes me sad to think about the fact that we didn't live on this planet at the same time. I love all of his movies and pretty much everything he has ever done and wish he was still around.
