US Navy's guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG-64) accidentally shot down its own F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet assigned to the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) using a surface-to-air missile during a strike mission targeting Houthis in the Red Sea.

Both pilots were recovered successfully.

I love teaching people to fly the L-39 Albatross, the Czech built Soviet era primary trainer. Very easy airplane to fly and inexpensive to maintain. There are hundreds of them in private hands and the Breitling Watch Aero Team flies them as well.

First test flight of the Grumman F-14 Tomcat on December 30, 1970. The flight control computer started to fail and they lost control of the aircraft. The F-14 went on to become the US Navy primary fleet defense fighter for three decades.

Midair crash of a P-63 Kingcobra fighter and a B-17 bomber at the Dallas airshow earlier this year. The fault is mostly with the show Air Boss, they had dissimilar aircraft types at the same altitude flying different routes. The P-63 was banked so he never saw the B-17.
