I can actually tell you this one. John Brights Regiment of Foote.

Because I had a brief stint with a reenactor group portraying them, and got to play with an actual cannon.

Nobody does, as he basically disappeared from socials after that (and since no action was taken, it didn't make major headlines)

JMS is a big fan of Blakes 7 so I think it probably ended up being an influence in his thinking for B5

There's a section in his wiki page about it:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_...

tl;dr version: he was accused of rape and sa in 2019 by a couple of women. he was never charged, but was dropped by the people he was working with, all his socials went away, and nobody's heard much from him since.

I might possibly remove Soule from that list. While he's always been a good composer, there's a certain amount of baggage there that I dont think needs to be associated with the brand.

Rifts. So many crazy and cool things your players should never get within a thousand yards of using.

I remember when they first started announcing the casting, and thinking "what, the kid from Hetty Wainthrop?"

He did good, though

(2/2) as well", and the mechanics as presented never really worked. RPS may have been a sludge, but carrying a d20 or some cards was always much more sludgy and flow-breaking to me

There were many issues with requiem for larp, but the absolute most frustrating part was the system. Masquerade et al had their own Minds Eye Theatre subset of the rules which were simplified and ground up built for larp. I always found requiem had the approach of "we built it so youcould larp (1/2)

"You forget the terms of our surrender. The penalty of the killing of any Centauri by any Narn will be the death of 500 Narns including the perpetrator's own family! But I don't have to kill you. I don't have to do anything and I still get to watch you die! I find this most appealing!"

I'm reminded, by contrast of the Babylon 5 episode where Londo and G'kar are trapped in a burning lift, and Londo is insisting that G'kar help him in attempting to get out because together they actually have a chance, and G'kar basically goes "nah, this way I get to watch you die."

In some ways, it's related to the strand of upper-class thought that suggests poor people should not have holidays, time off, or luxuries of any kind, or leisure time.
because actually spending time examining your lot in life, your feelings or identity is taking away from time you could be working.

I mean, Aliens is more or less an action movie with sci-fi, horror, and (thanks largely to how the cast worked together) Vietnam movie tropes

I think thats the point. You and I know we have no problems with anything on those spectra, and like to think we're welcoming... but people dont automatically know, and experience has taught them otherwise. I'd love to be in a world where people can take that as read, but this one, sadly, is not it.

The downside of "No Sacred Cows" is that on some level, actually giving a damn about anything is one of those sacred cows.

So the implication was if you don't get that, and seek out external validation, you're not actually a good person after all, because a good person would enjoy being good. (2/2)

The way it was explained to me by any number of "religious folk" was that the virtuous thing was its own reward. You didn't need validation because doing the good deed (or seeing the result and known the thing was good) was supposed to make you feel valid and happy without any external input. (1/2)

"Doesn't do much/anything for me" is one I've used from time to time in this vein (usually in response to foods or music)

Mines a normal face mask with air pipe out the front. I wonder if this design is based on sleeping position and/or beard compatibility

Theres a certain amount of commentary to the effect of "sounds great... but Corbyn's also in charge, so I'm out" going round.
