Everything that we were shouting about and warning about was dismissed as hyperbole, and of course it turns out that once again we were right all along. I'm going to have to live with that rage for a long long time

Between 2016 and 2019, 2020 and 2024, and 2024 to the present; each a distinct era in which I felt like I was losing my mind because of a Big Obvious Problem that apparently nobody else could see. It turns out that everybody COULD see it, it was just the newspapers insisting that we couldn't.

There was a similar turn of phrase at the top of a BBC News bulletin that I listened to - delivered in a sickeningly chipper and upbeat voice. Y'know, the voice that newsreaders reserve for pet rescues and Xmas number ones
