As you may already know, I am not a fan of “NuTrek”, the badly-written shows under the Alex Kurtzman rule. To me, Star Trek has always been about hope. This is a future where money doesn’t exist, where humanity ended hunger (through food replicators), ended racism, and every problem that exists in the modern age have been solved in the Star Trek universe.

Shaw Brothers Classics: Volume Five (Jan 14, 2025) Where we last left off in my Shaw Brothers collection, ending in Shaw Brothers Classic Volume 4 (which at the time I thought this was Shout Factory’s last collection), I thought it ended on a high note. That Fourth Volume collects all the 80s Kung Fu Classics, such as my favorite Five Element Ninjas and contains some of the last Kung Fu movies made by Shaw Brothers.

The Coen Brothers, Joel and Ethan, are celebrating twenty-five years for a movie that is probably the most Coen movie of them all, meaning no one else could have made it.   When accepting the Oscar for Best Director for No Country for Old Men, Joel thanked Hollywood for letting Ethan and him play in their corner of the sandbox.  What he meant was they were one of the few free-range movie makers that didn’t have studio executives breathing down their necks. 

A tribute to The Replacements, led by The Melismatics had seemingly every rock singer in the Twin Cities appear at the Turf Club. It was a smashing success and a sold out crowd had a blast.

A wild night of wrestling, live music and burlesque at First Avenue was as crazy as it sounds as Cheap Bouquet rocked and WREMIX wrestling slammed.

An encore post re-celebrating this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Concert that took place in early November in Los Angeles. A three-hour broadcast airs tonight at 8pm est / 7pm cst on ABC in the US and is on Hulu the next day. === As has become a recent tradition for us, we pulled up stakes over the previous weekend and headed west to attend the 40th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, held this year at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

On the second night of their annual Turf Club performance, Tom Petty tribute band All Tomorrow’s Petty treated the audience to hits and deeper cuts for a great time.

Shrimpnose led an evening of electronic and hip hop music at 7th St. Entry in Minneapolis and it was a dance heavy evening.
