"It's a distraction" is one of my least favorite tropes, but in this case I do think it's meant as a distraction from all the ways air travel has actually gotten worse this year

All of this, but also, the media needed another side to balance all the coverage they gave to lunatic Republicans. They couldn't find enough lunatic elected Democrats, so they had to stretch into the world of campus activism to satisfy their crazies-on-both-sides imperative.

Sure hope so. For me populism has been exposed as an utterly toxic adolescent pose. Give me elites, give me experts

Tarantino's bizarre rudeness negatively polarizing people to rally around Dano's juiceless performance is highly unfortunate. The role was unexpectedly foisted on Dano two weeks into the shoot and it absolutely shows

As a Fire Joe Morgan enjoyer and a hater of Dano's TWBB performance from way back, I choose to interpret the Eckstein reference as shading Danoheads as unsophisticated philistines

It's not immunity it's just saying he wouldn't prosecute for good faith legal advice since that's not a crime

It's a such a 2013 Twitter mini-beef it's honestly making me nostalgic
@hexane3.bsky.social Explain to me why I should wish @whstancil.bsky.social "well" when after I graciously informed him that a racist was weaponizing his name against me, he implied that I was there to "fight" him. Try to explain this without proving you're a racist. Let's see if you can.
Seems like you could've wished Stancil well, seeing as someone is trying to weaponize him in the name of racism...

Maybe I'm projecting too much onto it I can see how it could be meant neutrally. Some of the context lended it a whiff of hostility but you're right it didn't have to be

I mean it was a pretty pointed and aggressive question, I feel like it would be pretending if interpreted as innocent curiosity

Idk, does the fact she's writing a book about it change that calculus at all?

Quick question who passed the version sent to the Senate that apparently needed so many changes

Unlike my man Bernie Sanders who calls open borders "a Koch brothers idea" and says Trump has been better on immigration than Biden

This is the first one I've seen up to the standards of the Twitter account

Overarching idea as I understand it is competitive authoritarianism incentivized radicalization of the bureaucracy, leading to decisions like the one you describe. Intentionalists say Hitler had a plan and executed it, functionalists say he was too lazy to execute much of anything.
November 3, 2025 at 1:27 PM
Yeah pretty embarrassing for the author to assume Grok hallucinated the functionalist position. The position isn't that the Holocaust was an accident, it's that it was the result of bureaucrats trying to please Hitler.
