Today’s critters are a flock of Wild Turkeys across the road. Turn the volume up and you can hear some squawking. In the second video you see the pair behind the house the squawks were coming from. 1/2

Today’s critters are a Blizzard of Dark-eyed Juncos. Usually have a few amongst all the others at the bird feeder. But last night they took over and weren’t bothered by Mia. Better understanding why a flock is called a Blizzard .

Today’s critters are Canada Geese. Their honking call is noticeably different from the speckle belly geese call in a recent post. But both flocks were heading south to minimize cold spell impact.

Today’s critters are the nest box Eastern Bluebirds with a last second cameo by the Kentucky State Bird a Northern Cardinal on its way to the feeder.

Today’s critters are Greater White-fronted Geese also known as Specklebellys. They’re flying south probably in search of open water after the recent cold snap.

Today’s critters are probably Whitetail Deer but whatever they are, they sure left a lot of tracks in the snow behind the house.

Today’s critter is a Northern Flicker going up a backyard maple.
January 27, 2026 at 2:39 AM
Today’s critters are Eastern Bluebirds. Can you spot all 3 on the top of the fence? Bluebirds huddle up in weather like this and I’d guess these will be spending the night in the nest box they were going in and out of.

Today’s critters are a committee of three black vultures on the sycamore behind the house. There were originally five but two flew off before I could get a picture.

Have been some nice sunsets recently and here’s tonight’s.
January 18, 2026 at 11:44 PM
I believe Today’s Critters are a pair of Red-Tailed Hawks in the sycamore behind the house.

Tonight’s sunset from the front porch. Have to take advantage of the winter. Before long all the sunsets will be behind the neighbor’s tree line.

With temperatures in the mid 60’s, won’t be building a fire today. A Grateful Dead iPad Yule log will have to suffice. Please enjoy 15 seconds of the bridge from China Cat Sunflower into I Know You Rider.
