I've had to learn to enjoy being bad at the thing more than I desire to create something "good." Then eventually, I find that maybe I've been "good" for a while without noticing.

You (mostly) don't actually get less good at learning *because* you're an adult. You just get out of practice. Maintaining neuroplasticity as an adult is important. You should engage with topics & do stuff that's unfamiliar to you sometimes because it is good for your brain.
