The situation in Toretsk is more clarified since the last post on the city. Though widely contested, Russian forces retained a presence in areas throughout the city. These have since come back into their control, and some forces have now moved northwest of the city.

Russia crossed the Oskil again, this time at Kamianka. They now control or contest seven settlements on the west side of the Oskil.

In Belgorod, Russian counterattacks have pushed Popovka and Demidovka back to contested settlements.

In Zaporizhzhia, Russia has taken the settlement of Lobkove after the recent capture of Stepove and Mali Shcherbaky. A Ukrainian counterattack into Shcherbaky has prevented its capture so far.

Russian forces advancing west of Nevske and Terny have reached and taken Katerynivka as well as positions along the Ukrainian fortification line in the area.

Russia retook control of the remaining 358km² of Kursk, while Ukraine has captured 11.88km² of Belgorod.

This results in a total combined net Russian gain for the month of 618.84km², the third highest in the past year.

As of the end of March 2025, Russia occupies 18.3% (+0.05%) of Ukraine, including Crimea and the areas of Donetsk and Luhansk occupied before 2022, shown in purple.

This represents a net gain by Russia of approximately 272.72km² over the month.

In Kursk, Russia continues to secure areas of the grey zone after the recent withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the area. They have crossed the border into Zhuravka and have taken positions in Basivka.

A minor Ukrainian counterattack in Kursk meant that the area of Russia occupied by Ukraine expanded by 4.8km².

This results in a total net Russian gain across all fronts in the month of 246km².

(Note this chart is up to the end of February before the Russian Kursk offensive)
