Yesterday the City Council voted to allocate $1 million to provide emergency rental assistance to families who are struggling because of the ongoing occupation from federal immigration agents.

Today Georgia Fort, Trahern Crews, Don Lemon, and Jamael Lundy were arrested for protesting ICE or covering the protest as journalists. This is a flagrant violation of our most basic rights! They must be released and charges dropped. Trump is shredding our rights before our eyes.

Alex Jeffery Pretti was a VA nurse, an ICU nurse, a union member, an outdoorsman, a dog dad, a loved and missed neighbor and coworker, and a Ward 8 neighbor. He dedicated his life to caring for others.

This morning, federal immigration agents executed another one of our neighbors at 26th & Nicollet, in the Whittier neighborhood. He was observing their actions and looking out for his neighbors, and in response they murdered him in broad daylight. This has to stop.

I am joining over 50 unions and organizations, businesses, faith leaders and other elected officials for A Day of Truth and Freedom this Friday, 1/23. Together, we are calling for a unified statewide pause in daily economic activity to demand ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA NOW!

Last night, just a week after Renee Good was killed by ICE, federal agents shot another Minneapolis resident in the Hawthorne neighborhood. Our communities are being terrorized. This is completely unacceptable.

As we continue to be under the occupation of hostile federal agents, elected leaders at every level need t take action to protect and support our neighbors.

In order for our neighbors and communities to feel safe we need to get ICE out of our city and state. I call on elected leaders at every level of government to work alongside the City Council and community leaders towards this goal.

I am heartbroken and horrified that an ICE agent shot and killed an observer today in the Central neighborhood. I was on the scene earlier. I will share updates as I am able and demand justice, accountability and safety for our neighbors.
