Death Does Not Exist is also excellent as is Mexico's Soy Frankelda, but none got distribution in the US. ChaO has spectacular audiovisual elements, but has some problematic elements. I've heard great thinks about Olivia y las nubes and The Legend of Hei 2. Great year for animation.

Endless Cookie is outstanding, unpredictable, and a tremendous film about Indigenous culture. Lost in Starlight is a very good romantic movie (it's Korean, but got overshadowed by KPop). Isn't Oscar elegible, but Lesbian Space Princess rocks in every level.

I would go to your Halloween party. I too miss dressing up for Halloween parties, but have no party to go 😭

The lack of critics' interest in animation beyond US is so annoying! Right now I'm writing my Oscar Animated Feature race preview and it's so disappointing to see so many international gems that are going to be ignored because critics only watch Disney/DW/Netflix in English and whatever NEON has.

Se me hace rarísimo que aquí pase eso. En otros países percibo todo lo contrario. El cine de terror crea mucha comunidad, como que gente que se siente alienada se une a través del cine de terror. Es muy bonito. Lo que viví en Fantasic Fest aquí nunca se podría replicar.

Cuando "asustar" no define al género del terror. Por cosas como éstas es que en no existen grandes festivales de cine de terror en México. Hay una fragmentación muy marcada entre seguidores del género y un entendimiento primitivo del mismo.
