We're years into Apple's tvOS having two un-deletable apps that do nothing. If you open them, they tell you not to use them. I don't understand.

In October 2024 I had a rare reaction to scopolamine: extreme loss of close-up vision. I was told to give it a year to see how much vision I’d recover. And that’s how, this month, I accepted my reality and became somebody who keeps reading glasses scattered all over the place.

I have a lot of UI complaints about the latest iOS release, but this one burns me several times every day.

So what was the rest of the contract for? Drawing the rest of the fucking owl: data exchange, modeling, security. How much of that was just expected work as part of a website project like this, and how much is about the actual infrastructure of forecasting? Unclear. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-11...

These morons have reinvented inline styles. They're using break tags and writing "here" in their link text. The HTML doesn't even validate. This is trash. validator.w3.org/nu/?doc=http...

The White House's LinkedIn presence has changed their icon from the presidential seal to Trump's glowering face, so now anybody who worked for the White House has this shit on our LinkedIn profiles. www.linkedin.com/company/the-...

I just got an email from a band using their mailing list for the first time in 16 years, and I'm actually fine with this? That's maybe the correct frequency for updates. (I don't think I want to risk flu/covid by going to a crowded venue in January, as much as I'd like to see Bishop Allen again.)

Ultralight trackers make it possible, for the first time, to track the migration route of individual butterflies. Here are the routes taken by six monarchs this fall. Poor CMP032 got blown out to sea in New Jersey, and still managed to make it back to Florida. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/17/s...

This package of pita claims that each pita is a “loaf” of pita.

I object.

The New York Times provides this photo of the Oval Office study. See the photo on the left. That's President James A. Garfield. ... Why does Donald Trump have a framed photo of President Garfield? I can't figure it out. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/14/u...

I'm sure that's true, and yet I got this email, and in my subsequent exchange with support (PTN 1680772) I was told that there's nothing to be done about receiving any further emails. I just have an account on your system now that cannot be removed because I'm not a customer.

This was always where the right's "viewpoint diversity" schtick was going. A U.S. Senator said that the professor must be removed from teaching the graduate-level course because "one student in the classroom was uncomfortable." Love that viewpoint diversity. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/13/u...

A literal "both sides" from The New York Times, which includes a laundry list of attacks that includes zero attacks by Democrats.

(Is "from both sides" meant to modify "threats and attacks" or "prominent figures"? One describes perps, the other describes victims.) www.nytimes.com/2025/11/13/n...

I bought this thing of oil maybe 15 years ago, and it's still 2/3 full. It's amazing you can buy a lifetime supply of something for $3.50.

Trump doesn't "risk" lasting damage—he is executing the Project 2025 plan to shred the safety net. This is intentional.
