I was in 5th grade in catholic school. My most vivid memory was of all of us being herded into the church to pray for him. The nuns (all of whom were Irish) were in tears.

My two boys are pretty chill with the tree. Max likes to burrow under the tree skirt but Moritz could care less. After a year or two it was safe to put up the antique and German ornaments (or, as we say in Philly, balls). I’m giving Tinkerbell (the asshole) another year before I make that call.

With a new cat in the house last year, we only put up two parts of our three part tree and loaded the bottom branches with bells and plastic ornaments. The good glass ones stayed in the box.

I didn’t have the issues you had but I deployed with fibroids. A year later I had mine removed. My only regret was not having it done 10 years earlier.
