Exciting SPOKE update! Spent the day up at @pimoroni.com headquarters finalising the board and working out the kinks. Almost ready to go!

The packaging for my very soon to be released board is AMAZING. Artwork by the wonderful @jakeblanchard.bsky.social printed by uk company EcoCraft.

Super simple 26-pin capacitive touch board for a @raspberrypi.com Pico.

My Kickstarter for SPOKE ends tomorrow morning and I'm genuinely amazed by the support I've received.

I'm still finding more stuff it can do. In this example it's using physical connections rather than capacitive! Opening a whole new way to experiment.

One of the excellent features of the SPOKE board is the very customisable neopixel lights. The kickstarter ends today if you want to grab an early bird discounted one!

I chose these colours for the demo as #transrightsarehumanrights

My latest build uses a SPOKE-MINI to help me build a capacitive touch miniature midi musical mech.

Mini Musical Mech MIDI controller build using SPOKE to handle the hardware.

Video coming very shortly!

Working on a mini mech build that also has 15 touch sensors on board for playing music/games/software on it.
Focusing on not spending too much time on decisions and just making.

Had a great time at #CamJam today! Lots of interest and kind words about my SPOKE project. Thank you @cannonfodder.bsky.social for having us!

The kickstarter is still up and running for anyone who wants an early bird discount :)

Had fun today getting the neopixels on SPOKE matching the colours in @processing.org

Kickstarter is going well but help spreading the word would be appreciated!

This is a bit of a game changer. You can now play audio directly from the board without the need for a computer. @adafruit.com and @circuitpython.org and @raspberrypi.com combined make so many awesome things possible.
The kickstarter is now at 200% funded, I can't wait to keep experimenting with it.

108% Funded! Really excited to be able to bring this project to life. Thank you to everyone who supported or shared or said nice things. It's massively appreciated.

It has been a few days and I'm tantalisingly close to my funding goal. Kickstarter have also labelled me as "A Project We Love" which is very kind of them.

I pulled the trigger and launched the kickstarter for SPOKE this morning.

If you like it, consider supporting it or sending it to friends who might!

The Kickstarter for the SPOKE board launches tomorrow. It is a 27-pin capacitive touch board with neopixel indicator lights and stemma/qt connectors. It runs #circuitpython on a #rp2040 chip from @raspberrypi.com and is 100% fun and amazing and I hope you like it too.

Had a go at turning my board into a basic step sequencer... bloody well worked didn't it?
February 9, 2025 at 7:37 PM
A quick demo of how easy it is to add objects/materials to SPOKE and just press reset to recalibrate the capacitive thresholds.

Kickstarter should launch next week if I get enough work done on it this weekend!

My latest SPOKE test went like this. I can confirm that Mushrooms make excellent touch sensors. Follow the Kickstarter campaign to figure out how to make your own!

I have been building musical instruments for 15 years now. They're normally not recognisable as musical instruments. Here's just a few of them:

This is a musical USB-MIDI Bonsai tree. Each branch is a touch sensor made from insulated garden wire that triggers a sequence of MIDI notes. It was made using the SPOKE hardware that I'm Kickstarting.

SPOKE can play music, it can also act as a USB Keyboard/Mouse. Meaning creating custom touch based games controllers is easier than ever. + all the code can be edited in Notepad, with no fancy IDE needed.

I am in the 'raise awareness' phase of kickstarting it. Please sign up and then also spread :)
