Like just truly the medium of ~serialised tv~ is so restricted by the push and pull between creative liberty and Making Money/Views that american episodic tv seems doomed to vapidness

like actually yes, it put in stark contrast to me what I had been tolerating from franchises, and I actually think in terms of broader pieces of work, I can't think of a single tv series that manages to have the qualities and substance The Return does, like how films do. Hard not to see all TV as
