Due Process is in the Constitution. So is Checks and Balances. But it takes the voice of the people to protect the Constitution. And the voice of the people will only be heard if our elections are fair and accurate.

Gonna level here. I was never on board for gun control laws like the rest of the Left. (I know, school shootings, but that's a symptom of a whole other problem.) Part of me always thought that a slide into domestic fascism wasn't impossible. We need to be able to defend ourselves.

Using a 5 year old kid as bait to abduct his parents isn't something you do to fellow human beings. It's something you do to people you view as "inferior".

When this administration's gone, and what the masked goons have done remains, I don't know how we're going to go back to being one country.

You know how to check how bad this oncoming polar vortex is going to be, right? You check whether or not Ted Cruz has left the country.

Can someone explain to me why we DON'T have multilingual ballot options? Seems like an easy fix to me.

And you already know where I stand on overly harsh voter ID laws.
Anthony with Loud Light gave a speech about voting rights in Kansas at our rally last week!

I've learned more about KS HB2438. Apparently the intent is to address real concerns about identity theft & foreign interference. Supposedly they're not actually trying to shut down KSvotes.org, just beef up its security. I'm still worried about potential for abuse. Withholding judgement for now

KSVotes.org is the fastest, simplest way to register to vote in Kansas using just your touchscreen device.

The irony of ICE detaining and disappearing the original Americans should stop everyone cold.

As a Lakota proverb says, when you discover you’re riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount. This system isn’t broken. It’s dead.

The Kansas ACLU makes several good points about HB2438. Remember that the best voter suppression schemes work by looking harmless.

This is EXACTLY why I want this job. If we let someone with ill intent become the next Secretary of State, bills like HB2438 will make it way too easy to shut down voter registration with simple neglect. I'm running to block that power from going to someone who would abuse it.
Yesterday we testified in committee on a bill (HB2438) that would RESTRICT online Kansas voter registration.... DURING AN ELECTION YEAR.

Did we mention that it's a major election year for Kansas?

My issue with #Greenland:
Yes, I can see the strategic value on multiple fronts. But everything we want we could have gotten through trade and diplomacy, WITHOUT antagonizing the Indigenous population, or risking war with --of all things-- N.A.T.O.

Me:
I wonder why whites who subscribe to #ReplacementTheory are so convinced that they'll be persecuted when they're no longer the majority.

Also me:

Oh, well I guess the precedent has been set.

We’re becoming the Soviet Union. We’ve got an autocrat, oligarchs, propaganda, a failing economy, and we’re working on conquering satellite states. The only difference is instead of selling our dictatorship as communism, we sell it as freedom.

Today is a reminder of the power of lies.

People were told the election was illegitimate. They lived in echo chamber political spaces. They listened to the people they had already decided were legitimate. They believed what they wanted to believe. They attempted a violent coup against the U.S.

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.

It’s about oil and regime change.

And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.

One thing that's always put me at odds with authority figures is the belief that rules (like international law) should apply equally to everyone. If you kidnap Maduro for a trial in the US, are you prepared to be whisked away to Tehran for your own trial?

I grew up in a pretty solidly Christian area, so I used to think "Happy Holidays" just meant "Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year".

Happy Holidays, whatever you celebrate. New Year's included.

I was very surprised to learn today that Johnson County Election Commissioner Fred Sherman was forced to resign. I met Sherman once, and found him to be helpful, professional, and non-partisan. I'm waiting to see if more information emerges.

So there's this one Supreme Court case called Citizens United vs FEC (2010). It didn't create the problem. It just made an existing problem much worse.
